What People Are Saying

Before working with Allison, I struggled to find my voice at work and at home. Allison creates such a safe space to open up and be vulnerable. Through coaching and classes, Allison helped me to find the strength to speak up. My friends, families, and colleagues have noticed a positive difference in how I show up. I am still a work in progress, and I finally feel like I have the right tools to keep growing in a positive direction. Thank you, Alli!

— K.S., client

During a time in my life when I felt unneeded, worthless and without direction, Alli inspired me to truly look deep within myself to discover that everything I needed to create a new path was there, deep and dormant but not dead. Sure, it was emotionally exhausting, scary, and it took my breath away at times, but the results were powerful. Alli was my strongest advocate and with her unique balance of empathy, patience, respect, and wisdom, she helped me in ways I will never forget.

— Lorraine, client

Allison has helped me to get way more explicit about my goals and values and to act in alignment with them which has given me so much more power, purpose and enthusiasm and so much less anxiety. If you are thinking about working with Allison, you should go for it. You will not ever regret it. The meeting is the highlight of my schedule but the benefits and the lessons I’ve learned will stay with me forever.

 FAQs

  • The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.

Coaching helps you get clear about your goals, bridging the gap between where you are and where you want to be. It’s about creating “Aha!” moments with momentum.

  • Coaching and therapy are both centered around processing, asking questions and listening. However, there are some key differences.

First, coaching focuses on what is happening with your life in the present moment to help you create your desired future. Therapy tends to go into your past to help you manage your present life.

Second, coaching is action-oriented. We want to create momentum to move forward in life. That means we might co-create plans and homework for you to take action on after our session. Coaching integrates structure and accountability while therapy tends to be more strictly process-oriented.

Finally, coaches do not diagnose or work through early childhood traumas. We are not licensed or trained for that work. Often I will work with a client who sees both a therapist and myself.

  • We typically start by addressing any housekeeping issues (changes in schedules, etc) and then take a moment to get present and centered.

I open each session asking, “What would you like to walk away with today?” or “Do you have an intention for today’s session?” It’s OK if you don’t have an intention, but it’s important for me to ask.

The middle part usually consists of me asking you questions, reflecting back what I’m hearing and supporting you in your intention. My job is not to give advice and tell you what to do. You have the answers. I’m here to help you find them.

At the end, a plan to move forward has usually emerged. I will end each session asking, “What are you taking away with you?” or “What do you know now that you didn’t when we first began?”
